Jonah: Running From God
Jonah 1:1-2 / I am Jonah – Calling
Have you ever been called to do something but felt like running away instead? That’s exactly what Jonah did when he received a command from God to go and preach to the people of Nineveh.
Sign of Jonah: Book of Jonah
The book of Jonah tells the story of a man who runs away from God’s calling and later learns the hard way that disobedience has its consequences. But before he could fully understand the magnitude of his actions, he had to go through some tough times, including being swallowed by a large fish and being stranded in the middle of the ocean.
It was during these trying times that Jonah learned the value of prayer. In Jonah 2:2-9, he cried out to God from the belly of the fish, acknowledging his disobedience and asking for forgiveness. Jonah’s prayer is a reminder that no matter how far we may run from God, we can always turn to Him in repentance and find grace and mercy.
